About CAMS

CAMS Toolkit is a product of Integrate Australia Pty Ltd. developed in collaboration with a team of researchers at the School of Civil, Environmental and Chemical Engineering of the RMIT University. CAMS Toolkit underpins award-winning research models on building deterioration forecasting and optimised decision making for management of community buildings.

Community building assets in Australia represent a vast investment built up over many generations, and are valued at approximately 15 billion dollars. Sustainable management and new design of public buildings for long term performance require a good understanding of the deterioration process, which is a function of a multitude of parameters. CAMS Toolkit supports a data driven methodology for decision making related to community building life cycle management. Using CAMS Toolkit, asset managers can capture asset condition data and obtain various analysis reports related to asset deterioration, risk and budget forecasting, allowing them to make informed decisions related to maintenance and budget allocations.

CAMS Toolkit includes two key components:

CAMS system structure

CAMS Online

A cloud based application that allows asset managers to maintain all building asset and condition data under an IPWEA NAMS based component hierarchy. CAMS Online includes the following main functions:

  • Sustainable Decision Making
  • Economic Forecasting
  • CAMS Mobile

    An iPad based mobile application for Asset Inspectors for collecting and uploading building component condition data to CAMS Online. CAMS Mobile integrates seamlessly with CAMS Online allowing building managers to assign buildings to different inspectors. CAMS Mobile provides a user-friendly interface for Asset Inspectors for browsing building assets and entering condition data on-site. CAMS Mobile supports a workflow where the data is uploaded to CAMS Online, reviewed and committed after approval.


    Whilst there are a number of software models available for management of councils’ assets, a model specifically focused on community buildings utilising a reliable approach to derive deterioration forecasts as well as considering triple bottom line decision making process are unique to CAMS Toolkit.

    CAMS functions can be broadly categorized into the following four areas:
